About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:

Are you ready to make a difference in the world of heavy machinery? Caterpillar in Seguin, Texas is seeking a dynamic Material Handler to support our yard operations! In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, and dispose of materials within the yard. This role supports smooth yard operations by managing wood pallets, scrap wood, and other materials, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and ensuring all tasks are completed in compliance with safety and operational standards. What you will do:

  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, stage, and organize materials in the yard
  • Collect, break down, and dispose of wood pallets, scrap wood, and other yard waste according to company processes
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, or containers as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard, ensuring clear pathways and proper material storage
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns
  • Assist with inventory counts, material tracking, and documentation of material movement
  • Perform activities associated with managing waste and recycling streams
  • Follow standard operating procedures and area-specific work instructions
  • Support other yard or warehouse tasks as assigned to ensure smooth overall operation
  • Submit and assist with the resolution of Continuous Improvement Cards
  • Assist in problem-solving and improvement initiatives across departments
  • Occasionally participate in training and development
  • Perform any other assigned duties

What you will have:

  • Minimum of 2 months' experience in a machining, manufacturing, or warehouse environment or industry certification
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
  • General knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint
  • Ability to adhere to safety procedures

What would make you a top candidate:

  • Previous experience and/or certification in operating forklifts, tugger, and/or other power equipment
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse and/or logistics environment
  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Additional Information:

  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm. Overtime as required.

Summary Pay Range:

$18.05 - $21.10
