Job Description: UTILITIES ENGINEER. PAY GROUP: U22. SUMMARY: Provides engineering support to all Utility capital improvement projects; participates in project management for construction projects (water/wastewater/electric), including review of plans and contracts, negotiations/administration, QA, change orders, cost estimates, progress monitoring, and compliance with City requirements. Works with consulting engineering firms on construction documents, bids, and administration; participates in identifying/planning future utility projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Develop utility CIP; work with consulting engineers; manage/inspect utility projects; inspect facilities/crews for quality/safety; ensure standards compliance; respond to citizens; support GIS/GPS mapping; maintain records/reports; provide field guidance; review plans; assist with impact fees; oversee construction processes; develop/update 5-year Utility CIP. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Professional engineering design and utility operations; management principles; rules/regulations; budgeting and contract management; ability to address policy issues, analyze data, and maintain relationships. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Civil engineering degree plus at least three years in utility engineering/project management (water, wastewater, electric) or equivalent combination. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Registered Professional Engineer in Texas; State of Texas Class C driver’s license. Starting Salary: $48.82/hour. Position Open Until Filled. AA/EOE.
