PAY GROUP: U22. SUMMARY OF POSITION: Provides engineering support to Utility Capital improvement projects; participates in project management for water, wastewater, and electric construction; reviews plans and contracts, negotiates/administers contracts, assures quality, prepares estimates, monitors progress, and ensures conformance with City requirements. Works with consulting firms on construction documents, bid evaluations, and project administration; participates in identifying and planning future utility projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Develop utility CIP projects; coordinate with consulting engineers; manage/inspect utility projects; inspect facilities/work crews; ensure quality/compliance; respond to citizens; participate in GIS/GPS mapping; maintain records/reports; provide field guidance/problem-solving; review city utility plans; assist with impact fees; oversee construction procurement and compliance; assist with Five-Year Utility CIP. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Professional engineering design, field and utility operations; management principles; interpreting state/federal rules; budgeting and contracts; ability to evaluate policy issues, analyze data, communicate, and maintain certifications. ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: High school graduation or equivalent and a civil engineering degree plus at least three years in utility engineering/project management, or equivalent combination. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Registered Professional Engineer in Texas; Texas Class C driver’s license or alternate transportation. Starting Salary: $48.82/hour. Position Will Remain Open Until Filled.
