PAY GROUP: U1. SUMMARY OF POSITION: Member of tree care crew with responsibility to climb and assist Tree Trimming crew; perform ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform specialized pruning/takedowns; install cabling/bracing; safely operate chainsaw/chipper/trucks/hand tools; identify native/introduced trees/shrubs; use PPE; perform proper climbing/pruning/rigging; understand tree growth, wounding, pruning; perform tree risk assessment; apply approved knots; assist with driving/backing/dumping/parking trucks; demonstrate proficiency as ground person; assist in plant health care (fertilization, treatments); understand electrical hazards; adhere to safety policies; participate in safety training. REQUIRED KSAs: Knowledge of proper pruning, chainsaw safety/operation, climbing, bucket truck operation; ability to perform CPR; lift up to 112 lbs.; perform manual tasks in unfavorable weather; follow instructions; maintain records; work effectively with employees/public/vendors; handle hazardous materials. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: HS graduation or equivalent; two years of experience in landscape/tree maintenance preferred, or equivalent. CERTIFICATES/LICENSURES: Texas Class B (commercial) DL; maintain CPR certification. Starting Salary: $17.40/hour. Position Will Remain Open Until Filled. AA/EOE.
