Job Description: FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC. PAY GROUP: F4. SUMMARY: Protects residents and property from fire and provides emergency medical services. Duties include responding to alarms, accidents, and emergencies; assisting in fire suppression; participating in station/equipment/grounds maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Fire suppression and rescue; drive/operate emergency vehicles; connect supply lines; operate pumps/apparatus; maintain vehicles; establish incident command until relieved; overhaul/cleanup; maintain equipment and station; provide EMS per certification; complete documentation/reports; patient assessment and transport; restock equipment; inspections and prevention; hydrant maintenance; continuing training; wellness program. REQUIREMENTS: Extensive knowledge of city geography and firefighting/EMS principles; safe vehicle operation; physical ability to lift/maneuver 165 lbs., climb ladders, perform CPR, work in adverse conditions; ability to operate equipment, read maps, keep records, work under stress, maintain certifications and appropriate Texas driver’s license, and report for emergency duty within one hour. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Basic Firefighter certification (TCFP) and Class B Texas driver’s license within six months of hire.
