Job Description: FIRE RECRUIT. PAY GROUP: F1. SUMMARY: Trains for responses to alarms, accidents, and other emergencies; assists in fire suppression; participates in station/equipment/grounds maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Training for fire suppression and rescue; may drive emergency vehicles; assist with cleanup/overhaul; assist with equipment/vehicle/station maintenance; perform EMS per skills/certification; restock after runs; participate in training and wellness program. REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of city/county geography, firefighting principles, hydraulics, rules/procedures; skill in safe operation of emergency vehicles; physical ability (swim; lift/maneuver 165 lbs.; climb; perform CPR; use PPE; strenuous work in adverse conditions); ability to operate equipment, read maps, keep records, work under stress; maintain certifications and appropriate Texas driver’s license; report for emergency duty within one hour. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: EMT Paramedic (Texas DSHS) and appropriate Texas driver’s license; must obtain basic firefighter certification within 6 months of employment. Position Open Until Filled. AA/EOE.
