Job Description: ELECTRICIAN. PAY GROUP: U14. SUMMARY: Performs skilled mechanical and electrical work in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment; may supervise assigned staff; works independently per established procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Oversee lift station equipment installation/maintenance/repair; review construction plans for electrical design compliance; train/direct employees; ensure safe handling of tools/equipment/materials; mentor safety; install/repair/maintain motors, generators, controllers, panel boxes, transformers, wiring systems; preventive maintenance; troubleshoot/repair City electrical systems, pumps, motors, monitoring equipment; install/maintain metering/control/tele-metering/recording equipment at water/sewage plants; estimate time/materials; install event electrical hook-ups; respond to emergencies; repair/maintain lighting systems; assist City Engineer; troubleshoot lift station electrical components; perform minor repairs (packing, bearings, wiring); maintain records/logs; pull permits; prepare paperwork. REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of City/State/National electrical codes; electrical trade tools/methods; lift station maintenance; general electric/mechanical repair; control panels/PLCs/instrumentation; electrical trade safety; pump/controllers/chain drives/lift stations; municipal systems preferred. Ability to work independently; read/interpret maps/blueprints/schematics; use electrical testing tools; clear communication. PHYSICAL: Lift/maneuver up to 92 lbs. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: HS diploma/GED plus two years as a Journeyman Electrician; pump repair/electrical maintenance preferred; or equivalent. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Journeyman Electrician (Master preferred); Texas Class C driver’s license; ability to obtain TCEQ Collections Level I and Texas Class B CDL with air brakes.
