Job Description: POLICE CADET. PAY GROUP: P1. SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Administrative Sergeant, performs civilian duties while attending the police academy; maintain passing grades, adhere to academy rules, represent the department professionally, train physically, pass the state licensing exam (TCOLE). ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Participate in law enforcement learning activities; attend academy on schedule; study and engage proactively; maintain highest moral/ethical/legal standards; meet physical fitness requirements; maintain passing grades and obtain certifications; adhere to academy rules and safety; communicate progress to supervisor; complete academy on time; pass state licensing exam to become TCOLE licensed. REQUIREMENTS: Effective oral/written communication; ability to read/interpret rules/procedures/laws; follow instructions; perform math (rates/ratios/percentages); apply common sense; physical ability for arrests, firearms proficiency, and lifting (regularly 25 lbs, frequently 50 lbs, occasionally 165 lbs); various physical activities. ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Valid Texas Driver's License. Starting Salary: $27.24/hour. Must reside in Guadalupe County.
