What You'll Do

  • Supervises activities of Straightening Area which includes shipping, receiving, operations, safety and environmental
  • Lead pre-shift meeting to include safety topics, stretch exercises and daily plan
  • Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding customer expectations; on-time performance, customer satisfaction/service, cost controls
  • Daily communication with production operator to identify opportunities, issues, and concerns
  • Holds people accountable for their behavior and performance. Addresses performance problems quickly
  • Maintain and turn in all daily and monthly reports required by management
  • Perform SAP functions related to sawing and straightening merchant bar
  • Assists in the control of inventory dollars and tons by meeting inventory turn standards set forth by the company
  • Assists Operations Manager in maintaining an accurate inventory with no losses due to fraud, poor quality control, poor operational or accounting practices
  • Operate and troubleshoot all equipment in the Straightening area, including all three straighteners, saws and mobile material handling equipment
  • Must collaborate with Operations Manager and Plant Manager to ensure successful accomplishment of plant goals
  • Embodies and reinforces CMC's culture, Guiding Principles, Safety, and policies/procedures

What You'll Need

  • Minimum of 5 years of Straightening experience, or related experience in Steel Industry
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required
  • Extensive understanding of all equipment within the straightening department
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Kronos and SAP
  • Knowledge of departmental flows to schedule downtime and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Proven experience in utilizing math, verbal, mechanical, analytical and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate up, down, and across the business
  • Must be able to assist in problem solving in all areas of plant
  • Able to multitask and handle stress in a highly productive environment
  • Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • Must be able to maintain and be familiar with safety and environmental concerns

Your Education

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
  • Bachelors degree preferred
