Scope of Responsibility

The NP/PA is responsible to providing comprehensive care to patients in the acute-care setting and will have a high degree of clinical expertise in working with pediatric and adult patient population. The NP/PA is also responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, and care coordination of patients. This role also consists of working with administrative, nursing, and physicians to assure safe, effective, quality patient care meanwhile providing care within his/her scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, institutional policy and practice agreements.

Responsible to the Vice President of Physician Services

Education

    • Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program required
    • Current Licensure with the Texas Medical Board of Nurse Examiners or Current Licensure with the Texas Medical Board of Physician Assistants

Training and Experience

    • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
    • Obtains and maintains American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider
    • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management, physicians, patients, and visitors required
    • 3-4 years of working in an inpatient acute care setting experience preferred
