Scope of Responsibility

As an OR Scrub Tech, you will function as the instrument nurse on surgical procedures, setting up and caring for specialized equipment, and performing related duties in the Operating Room, Sterile Processing and at the Outpatient Center.

  • Responsible to the Executive Director of Perioperative Services
  • Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Has successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains certification as a surgical technologist by either the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor, the National Center for Competency Testing or its successor, or another surgical technologist certification program approved by the department; or
    • Has completed a training program for surgical technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; or
    • Was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009; or
    • Is performing duties related to surgical technology in the service of the federal government; or
    • Is a recent graduate of a surgical technology program and obtains certification within 180 days

Training and Experience

    • Obtains and maintains American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider
    • 1 year previous experience preferred
