Scope of Responsibility

Medical Assistants and/or Licensed Vocational Nurses perform duties under the supervision of a physician. Interviews patients and prepare them for provider exam and treatment, measures vital signs and records information in EHR system. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assist physician with procedures. Clean and sterilize instruments. Administer injections to patients. Coordinate discharge planning and follow up care of the patients.

Education, Training and Experience

      • High School Education or equivalent
      • Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent years of experience or Current Licensure with The Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners
      • Obtains and maintains American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider
      • 1 to 2 years previous office specific experience preferred
      • Experience scheduling surgeries and getting insurance benefits with authorizations preferred
      • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
      • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of employees, management, visitors and outside sources
      • Bilingual preferred
