Scope of Responsibility

The Birthing Center RN will also routinely lead the team of care providers.

  • Responsible to Birthing Center Supervisor
  • Education
    • Associates Degree Nurse or Bachelors of Science Nursing Degree

  • Training and Experience
    • Current licensure with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
    • Obtains and maintains American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider
    • Obtains and maintains ACLS within 6 months of employment
    • EFM and STABLE certifications are required within 6 months of employment if there is prior labor experience
    • EFM and STABLE certifications are required within 1 year of employment if there is no prior labor experience
    • Obtains and maintains American Academy of Pediatrics NRP provider within 4 months of employment
    • Previous experience in maternal/newborn care preferred
    • OB triage duties may be assigned after the employee has completed the EMTALA Qualified Medical Personnel competency or with oversight by an RN who has completed the competency.
