Scope of Responsibility
The Outreach Laboratory Supervisor is a working phlebotomy services supervisor in the Outpatient Laboratory and is responsible for the following tasks: oversees, maintains and supports the laboratory outreach/phlebotomy program. This includes management of Laboratory Outreach personnel, courier activities (urgent care and physicians’ clinic pick-ups), billing operations such as requisitions daily review, nursing home collections, Drug Screen collections, EKGs, and supplies consistent with the phlebotomy services provided. The supervisor will establish collaborative relationships with both internal and external clients to promote quality operations, client satisfaction and departmental profitability. Will act in a teaching and/or supervisory capacity for new employees and students in accordance with the appropriate baseline skills checklist. Demonstrates excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills. Assists the Laboratory Director as needed. Maintains the highest level of ethical behavior consistent with the Mission of Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.
- Education
- Associate's of Science degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or Medical Laboratory Science preferred
Training and Experience- 2-4 years of laboratory experience required
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of reference lab testing required
- Knowledge of outreach process
- Phlebotomy experience required
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to multitask
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented
- Highly organized
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and current auto insurance coverage
